PASS THE HELMA NEW CHAPTER ON THE WATER
HOW IT WORKS

An introduction.
A considered decision.

A private network built around a boat’s needs and the people willing to meet them.

01 / SHARE THE STORY

Start with the boat.

Tell us about its history, condition, and what you hope comes next. You don’t need to have every answer.

02 / FIND COMMON GROUND

Look for the right fit.

Thoughtful introductions consider the boat’s needs and a prospective caretaker’s experience, plans, and practical resources.

03 / PASS IT FORWARD

You choose the next chapter.

Owners decide whom to trust. Both parties handle inspections, documentation, and any financial arrangements directly.

Care comes before the handover.

Owner details are reviewed privately. Relevant captains may receive an opportunity after the owner has agreed to what may be shared. Owners decide which introductions they want to pursue.

Members express interest; they do not bid or buy a right to a boat. Both parties remain responsible for due diligence, documentation, condition assessments, and direct financial arrangements.

Does a transfer have to be free?

No. Legitimate storage, repair, and other obligations may be involved. There is no arbitrary dollar ceiling. The intention is thoughtful stewardship rather than maximizing a sale price.

Can you guarantee a match?

No. Registration will not guarantee a boat, an opportunity, timing, condition, title, or an owner’s decision.

Does Pass the Helm acquire boats?

The operator may personally seek to acquire a suitable vessel. That interest must be disclosed before proceeding, with the operator acting as a principal. Owners retain their choice.

Is the service live?

Free owner submissions and contact messages are open for private review. See Aspiring Captains for current registration availability. Matching uses structured preferences; owners select captains and each captain confirms before contact sharing; no boat or opportunity is guaranteed.
